NTU Summer Hours – The NTU Office will be open Monday to Thursday, 9 AM to 3 PM starting Monday, June 26th. Office will be closed July 3rd and 4th for Independence Day. You can always reach us by email.

The NTU will continue to send out communication through the summer. Make sure your NPS email box is cleared out and your passwords are updated. It’s always best to make sure we have your personal email address as well. Send it to mmaillaro@newarkteachersunion.com.

Summer is upon us, and parents, children and teachers are winding down from what has been an exhausting and fully operational school year—the first since the devastating pandemic. The long-lasting impact of COVID-19 has affected our students’ and families’ well-being and ignited the politics surrounding public schools. All signs point to the coming school year unfolding with the same sound and fury, and if extremist culture warriors have their way, being even more divisive and stressful.

Please note that May 26th and May 30th are the work days before and after a holiday. To ensure that you get paid for the holiday weekend, you must take a personal day if you are going to be absent on any of those days.

You can take a sick day on those days as long as it is part of an approved medical leave. Unless it is part of an extended FMLA, you must submit a medical certificate to NBOE Office of Administrative Services
