As a union, we are fighting to make college affordable to student debt manageable. We maintain www.forgivemystudentdebt.org as a resource for members who need to learn the language of free and underused federal programs that help many student loan borrowers lower their monthly payments, and in some cases, even have their debt forgiven.

2015 Union Plus Scholarship - Application due Jan 31, 2015

Dear Union Member,

For over 20 years, the Union Plus Scholarship program has been making annual college scholarship awards to union family members. In total we've awarded more than $3.7 million in educational funding to more than 2,500 union members, spouses and dependent children!

Union Plus Scholarship awards are granted to students attending a two-year college, four-year college, graduate school or a recognized technical or trade school. Union families looking for help financing their education should check out the Union Plus Scholarship.

Many of the programs are provided through Union Privilege, the benefit arm of the AFL-CIO; others are unique to AFT and are coordinated directly through AFT PLUS. Thanks to your union, nearly 100,000 students have used the Free College benefit to earn a degree with no out-of-pocket cost. For many, they wouldn't have attended college without their union.
