NTU Update - November 19, 2018

Colleagues:

1) Grievance and Contract Update - Terrific news!  The grievances arising from the 2012 contract have been won and settled.  Also, the NTU and NPS have agreed on a raise for staff impacted by the 2018-2019 contract reopener.  Formal details will be coming soon!

2) Friday Snow day - At the request of the Newark Teachers Union, the district has agreed to nullify any sick days or personal days that were charged to employees who called out for Friday before the district decided to make Friday a snow day.

We also want to commend all NTU Members who handled Thursday night's chaos and confusion brilliantly; all your acts of kindness, your professionalism, your inconvenience, did not go unnoticed.

3) Reminder!  Prudential Center!

The NTU still has terrific seats available for upcoming shows at the Prudential Center, including Frozen, the Harlem Globetrotters, and Monster Jam!   Unlike many deals, these aren't nosebleed seats!

Click on the Prudential Center Logo below to get started!  Hundreds of members told us they were interested, and the tickets are currently available through NTU's Prudential Center page!

4 REMINDER!  FOOD DRIVE!

Many of our students and their families need some extra help this holiday season. The NTU is partnering with the Community Food Bank of New Jersey to ensure everyone has a great holiday season this year.

From November 13th to November 20th, the NTU will be collecting canned and packaged goods at the Union Hall (1019 Broad Street).

Please note that Wednesday November 21 and Monday, November 26 are the days before and after a holiday respectively. To ensure that you get paid for the holiday weekend, you must take a personal day if you are going to be absent on November 21 and/or November 26

You can take a sick day on those days as long as it is part of an approved medical leave. Unless it is part of an extended FMLA, you must submit a medical certificate to NPS Office of Administrative Services within 3 days of your return to work.
