NTU Update - September 9, 2016

1)      Paydates: Today is the first payday of the year.  It should be a seven day check for full time staff (per diem staff are paid a week behind).  If you have any issues with your check, please email Mike Maillaro at  Attached is the list of all the pay dates for the year from our upcoming calendar book.

2)      NTU Website – Reminder!  Our website is  Our old website has been inactive for close to a year.

3)      Political Action- Please call or email your legislators ASAP and throw your support behind Senate & Assembly bills S2372 & A3929 that establishes State School Aid Funding Fairness Commission.   These bills would increase funding for Newark by $90M.  Help us avoid future layoffs that will occur under Christie’s $6,900 per pupil state aid proposal.  Find your legislator here  and help us thwart the Governors ill-fated proposal.

4)      New Teachers - Attached are flyers for some upcoming New Teacher events at the NTU.  If there are new staff in your building, introduce yourself!  We all remember how difficult it can be in Newark, especially in your first year.

New Teacher Meet and Greet

New Teacher Workshops

5)      Back to School Resources – On our website, we have several resources for Back to School.  Check them out!  Also, our Education Resource Center is open Monday – Thursday to help you with Bulletin Boards and other vital needs!

In Solidarity,
