Dear Brothers and Sisters:
Welcome to 2018, it promises to be a very interesting year for education in New Jersey and even more interesting and historic for Newark as we transition back to local control after 25 years of hostile state occupation.
The purpose of this email is to share with you the attached information [Preparing for 2018 taxes]regarding payroll and your taxes. According to NPS Payroll Dept. employees will begin seeing the new tax rates in the last check in January. First check in February, the latest.
Each member and household is different, therefore the NTU shares no opinion on the effect of these changes, we urge you instead to discuss this matter and prepare for them under advice of your tax professional.
Lastly, in addition to your eventually revised tax rates, in accordance with our AFT Constitution, it is our duty to inform you that effective January 2018, AFT National has increased member dues by .25 cents a month, divided into two checks at 12.5 cents each.
