Park Elementary
We have small lunch area , we don't couches to relax and all us don't even fit in the lunch area. I wouldn't even call a lounge area. It's more like a room.
As contract book states," Wherever adequate space is available, a teacher workroom shall be provided containing appropriate equipment and supplies to accomplish the teacher's work."
There are several designated staff workrooms at Park Elementary - none of which are used as that.
This picture is of first floor workroom that serves as a storage closet for unlimited supplies that are rarely handed out. With QSAC visits the big buzz - I imagine this door might be unlocked at some point this school year.
Availability to this workroom as well as additional 2nd and 3rd floor workroom would be a substantial benefit to staff to be able to plan, prepare etc. when their classrooms are not available due to prep coverage in the classroom.
Pictured below is the 2nd floor staff workroom that has been converted into a staff lunchroom. It formerly served as a therapy room for outside services some students receive.
This year it is the ONLY room where staff could sit and eat lunch. We are a staff of over 75 - so some lunch periods could get very crowded in this room.
This is a picture of the former Faculty Lounge at Park Elementary. When I arrived at Park in 2015 this is where I went at lunchtime every day and met the staff. We all enjoyed gathering here in addition to the fact that it is right next to the cafeteria so your 30 minute lunch started right away - no travel time back up to your room.
The past few years this has been a classroom for a very small number of students.
Presently it is temporarily being used for a therapy room , but not every day of the week.
Possibly will be a prek classroom - which would not be the best location for little ones.
This is a second floor workroom/lunchroom.
This is the ONLY room available to staff in a building this size. More than anything we need to be provided with adequate space for staff workspace, collaboration space, lunchroom.
Staff would love to make this a much more welcoming space , where they would want to come and take a few minutes to regroup, relax during the busy work day.
This is a picture of the 3rd floor Staff Workroom - nothing can get done in this room. More storage and wasted space.
No where for teachers to collaborate, plan, etc.
What we really need is a plan to clear this out!!!!!
