1) Open enrollment - Open Enrollment 2018 is effective now through Tuesday, October 31, 2017.   The elections you make during Open Enrollment will remain in effect from January 1, 2018 until December 31, 2018.   Now is the time to make any changes you need to your health benefits and to make sure everybody is covered in your family.

ast Side’s Yari Pares has been working closely with the Hurricane Maria Relief Effort which is composed of various organizations in Newark, from the PR Parade Committee, to the Roberto Clemente baseball league of Newark amongst others such as Ariagna Perello who served on the Newark School Advisory board at one time.

1) Kudos – The new NTU website is regularly updated with a wide variety of important information, including a calendar of events, and how to’s for topics like FMLA’s.  If you have anything you’d like added to the website (kudos, pictures/videos from your school, etc), just send it to mmaillaro@newarkteachersunion.com.. There a lot of amazing things going on in the Newark Public Schools, and it’s important to highlight them!

The members of the ScIP have the following specific responsibilities under the TEACHNJ LAW:

  • • Ensuring that evaluation procedures are implemented;
  • • Ensuring that procedures for Corrective Action Plans are implemented;
  • • Identifying PD opportunities for staff members; and
  • • Overseeing the mentorship of new teachers at the building level.

Dear Brothers & Sisters:

The Arbitrator's decision on our Grievances over the district's failure to implement certain provisions of the 2012 contract has finally arrived.   The 2012 contract was a controversial one, we know. Those who benefited loved it; those who didn’t hated it; some saw it as too progressive, others saw it as regressive.
