This year, the NTU’s Hall of Fame inductees are “THE MEMBERS OF THE NTU.”   After everything we have suffered under state control, we felt strongly that it was important to take a moment and celebrate the hard work and dedication of each and every NTU Member.

This year, the Newark Teachers Union will be awarding our first ever NTU Legacy Award to Christine "Roz" Samuels.   Roz worked in Newark for 40 years and served as NTU Secretary Treasurer along with being both a Building Rep and Executive Board Member.. On Wednesday, May 19, 2016, the NTU held our 18th Annual Hall of Fame Dinner. It was our most successful Hall of Fame Dinner yet!   We had close to 300 attendees and raised $50,000 for scholarships for our members, their children, and the students of Newark!

For the first time, we also had the NTU Member Recognition Awards, where 14 members were recognized for their contributions to Newark's students, school staff, and community.

And we inducted Thomasina Lemon into the NTU Hall of Fame!
