From Rita Messing:
Our trip is a one-day trip and will take place on Thursday, September 14th. We are going to Chads Ford, PA and Kennett Square, PA to visit and tour the Brandywine Museum and the famous Longwood Gardens.
The Brandywine Museum is also called the Wyeth Museum because of its extensive collective of works by the acclaimed Wyeth family including grandfather NH, father Andrew (Christina's World), and son Jamie. The museum is in a converted grist mill located on the backs of the Brandywine Creek. The museum also contains work by other American artists.
When we leave the musuem, we shall travel to the famous Longwood Gardens which has some of the most spectacular horticulture to be seen. In 1908, Pierre Du Pont purchsed the rights to the historic Perice's Park and its surrounding land and established these beauitiful gardens. Longwood Gardens has over 1,000 acres of beautiful grounds. Aside from the amazing horticulture and aftter two years of planning, the gardens put on a spectaculr display of lights in the evening which we will stay to enjoy.
There will be 2 pick-ups as usual: Joseph's Church in West Orange and Shoprite in Clark at exit 135 on the Garden State Parkway.
