On Saturday, March 24, at Military Park at 10 am, the City of Newark will be holding a March for Our Lives Rally. This is in conjunction with the national March for Our Lives event in Washington D.C. and with sister events across the state and country.
March for Our Lives NJ is a student-centered, student-lead event. It is being planned by a committee of students from diverse backgrounds who are coming together from schools across northern, central, and southern New Jersey. They are being supported by Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America New Jersey and its local chapters, Women for Progress, and Elizabeth Meyer, founder and lead organizer of the Women’s March on NJ and lead organizer with NJ March for Science 2017.
The NTU Community Engagement & Social Justice Committee is encouraging members to support (either through donation or their time). The event is one of many designed to help raise awareness about gun violence in our schools and communities. NTU Vice President and co-chair of the NTU Community Engagement & Social Justice Committee Chris Canik will be there. If you will be there, please e-mail Chris at ccanik@gmail.com or ccanik@nps.k12.nj.us to confirm a meet-up location
