Dear Colleagues,
We want to wish you and your family a healthy and relaxing Winter Break. We know there is a lot of anxiety and confusion about what is happening with school opening in January. We have all worked hard this school year, and you should just enjoy the Break. The NTU continues to work closely with the Superintendent and the district’s Reopening Taskforce. The NTU will not allow Newark’s staff and students to be put in harm’s way. As soon as more information is available, we will get it out to you as we have since this pandemic began.
Note: If your administrator hasn't yet been visited by the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present, and Future, and you received an observation before break, the vacation days are not included in the ten days you have to write a rebuttal. Relax and enjoy the holidays.
Paras & Support Staff Resources
On our website, we have added a new section devoted to providing resources for our Paras and Support Staff. We hope to expand this program as we move into the New Year. More info to come.
Union Guide to Holiday Burnout
Even in the best of times, the holiday season can be extremely stressful for a lot of people. Our colleagues at HCAMS have put together a Union’s Guide to Surviving The Holidays with COVID Burnout. We presented this at our December Building Rep Meeting, and the Reps overwhelming enjoyed it.
The NTU offices will be closed from December 24 to January 3. We will be checking our emails periodically during the break.
In Solidarity,
John M. Abeigon
