Colleagues,
1) Contract Update – As we reported yesterday, the NTU Negotiation team has reached a tentative agreement with NPS. The final details are still being worked out, including salary guides and getting a signed agreement ready for the NTU Executive Board to review. Our goals were to negotiate terms that respected and values the work and worth of teachers, aides, clerks and all education workers, while maintaining our job protections and assuring better or equal benefits. I believe these goals have been achieved and cannot thank our Negotiations Team enough for their hard work and incredible achievement.
Details and more information to come over next few days and weeks.
2) Seton Hall - Seton Hall Informational Meeting - Seton Hall University will be holding an Open House/Information Session for their next Executive M.A. & Ed.S Degree Program in Education Leadership, Management, and Policy on Monday, March 6, 2017 at 4:30pm at the NTU Offices at 1019 Broad Street, Newark.
For more information, see the attached flyer.
3) FMLA Workshop – On Thursday, March 23, the NTU will be sponsoring FMLA workshops at the NTU building 1019 Broad Street, Newark, NJ, 07102. We invite our Building Reps and any interested staff to attend. There will be two sessions, one at 3:45 PM and one at 4:45 PM.
4) Free and Confidential biometric wellness screening – We have gotten a few questions about an email NPS sent out a few days ago from Quest Diagnostics about a Free and Confidential biometric wellness screening. We verified with NPS that this is legitimate, and all information will be kept confidential by Quest Diagnostics.
For anyone who is interested, NPS will be offering onsite screening events on Wednesday, March 22, 2017 at Central Office from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. and Thursday, March 23, 2017 at Harold Wilson from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Employees who attend an onsite screening will receive a water bottle and pedometer. Additionally, they will be eligible to participate in a raffle to win an Apple Watch, FitBit, or NutriBullet.
