Of the many difficult decisions superintendents have to make, I am confident that the closing of schools for inclement weather is close to the top of the list.

Each time, the decision to close school is made after a thorough and careful review of multiple factors, with the health and safety of students and staff as our top priority. Dear Faculty and Staff,

The impact of excellent teachers on students' lives cannot be understated. As we edge into the last month of school, it is with great pleasure that we use this space to acknowledge two of the many fine teachers in Newark Public Schools. We want to honor Wahab Ashraf, who teaches College Prep and Advanced Placement biology classes to students from Science Park High School. Mr. Ashraf was named the Outstanding NJ Secondary School Teacher by Princeton University this past May. He is one of only four teachers to receive
