NTU Update - September 22, 2017

Colleagues,

1) NTU Calendar Books – This is the question we get most at the NTU this time of year “Where is my Calendar book?” The 2017-2018 calendar book is currently at the printer and we hope to have it out to the membership in the next week or so.

2) NTU Contract Books – We are working with NPS on finalizing the new Contract Books. We hope to have a digital version on the website next week and the print copy available soon after.

3) NTUniversity: The NTU is in the process of developing a calendar of workshops for members and we are requesting proposals. If you are interested in presenting to your fellow NTU members, please review the following requirements and draft a submission. All presenters will be given a stipend of $50.00/session

4) Revised Missing Prep Form – Under the new contract, all elementary schools have a minimum of four preps a week. If you are missing a prep for testing, CST meetings, etc, fill out this form and submit to your clerk and mmaillaro@newarkteachersunion.com.

5) NTU Building Reps – We are starting the school year with several schools without Building Reps. The NTU Rep Support Committee will be reaching out to those schools over the next few weeks. If you are at a school with no Building Rep, and interested in the position, reach out to Venetta Smith - vsmith@newarkteachersunion.com

6) Speech Language Specialists – We have gotten a lot of questions from Speech Language Specialists who were moved to the CST and what step they were placed on. We are working closely with NPS on resolving this issue, and we will send out an update hopefully early next week.

7) REMINDER: NPS BOARD OF EDUCATION MEETING! With the transition back to local control, it is vital that NTU has a strong presence at the upcoming NPS BOARD OF EDUCATION Meetings. This fight is far from over!
