How can we help those impacted by Hurricane Harvey?

Colleagues,

Please see the below email from our colleagues in the AFT.  Remember, this was the same fund that was used to help our own members who were devastated by Hurricane Sandy in 2012.  Every little bit helps, and our brothers and sisters in Texas need our help! Solidarity doesn't stop at the NJ border.

In Solidarity,

John M. Abeigon

President

========================================

When Superstorm Sandy hit New Jersey, AFT immediately reached out and activated the disaster fund  to help offset expenses for members who lost homes, cars and valuables. As Hurricane Harvey continues to wreak havoc on families across Texas, AFT’s disaster fund will be there again, helping members rebuild and get on with their lives. AFT cannot do it alone, they need our help.

It's hard to imagine losing so much in such a catastrophic storm - and forecasters say more destruction lays ahead. The good news is that most of us are safe and dry and in a position to help. And it only takes a minute.

Please make a tax-deductible donation to the AFT Disaster Relief Fund.

AFT Texas also set up a page to accept donation to provide direct relief to affected members.

AFT's disaster relief fund helps our union sisters and brothers in times of need. And after Hurricane Harvey, their need is great. I just made a personal contribution to the relief fund and I hope you will join me in assisting our colleagues. Any size donation will help.

Texas officials are predicting a multi-year rebuilding effort following this powerful storm. Let's get started now to make sure our own union members do not have to wait to begin rebuilding their lives.
