OCTOBER 20, 2025 EDITION

Message from the Office of Teaching & Learning

Dear Teachers and Instructional Staff,

Learning together is one of the most powerful ways we grow, not only as educators but as a united community committed to a common mission: to strategically elevate student achievement across our District. When we collaborate, share ideas, and support one another, we create an environment where innovation thrives and every student has the opportunity to succeed.

As we prepare for our Staff Development Day on October 22, 2025, I want to celebrate the passion

Dear Teachers and Instructional Staff,

As we launch into the 2025-2026 school year, I want to take a moment to reflect on the exciting opportunities that lie ahead for all of us. This year, our Superintendent León has chosen the motivating theme, “Keep on Moving,” which invites each of us to embrace continuous growth, resilience, and forward momentum in our work with students and colleagues. Together, let’s commit to making this a year of meaningful progress and positive impact across our District.

Since Tuesday, September 9, 2025, our Phase 1 Teaching and Learning (T&L) School Support Visits have been underway and will continue through Thursday, October 30, 2025. These visits focus on reinforcing District priorities such as writing across the curriculum, reading with an emphasis on informational text, Cornell note-taking, Everybody Writes, oracy, and Independent Reading. In mathematics, the focus is on mastery of fractions and multiplication, along with the strategic use of calculators and manipulatives.

We are shifting toward a more cohesive, District-wide approach to instruction that ensures all students have access to high-quality learning experiences. This alignment is essential not only for delivering the curriculum consistently but also for making sure that the work students produce truly demonstrates their understanding and growth. By closely examining student work alongside our curriculum, we can better support each learner’s progress and tailor instruction to meet their needs. We are committed to collaborating with educators to promote instructional excellence and student success.
