Quick Note: Our workshops for next week have filled up.  We will be looking to schedule second sessions for these workshops in early November.  Thank you for your interest.

That said, if you registered, PLEASE SHOW UP!  Or at least let us know if you will be unable to attend.  It's frustrating when we prepare materials, etc based on the number of RSVP's and less than 25% show up.

We’ve been on the phone with our locals and state leaders in the affected areas, and we know that families need a helping hand. That’s why we’re opening our Disaster Relief Fund for those who have been affected by the hurricanes. We sent thousands of dollars last week due

1) Dismissal time: The schedule which was approved by the superintendent is as follows:

Employees arrive............................................................. 8:10 AM
Employees report to assigned stations............................ 8:15 AM
Pupils arrive.................................................................... 8:20 AM
Classes end.................................................................... 3:00 PM
Students dismissed ........................................................ 3:05 PM
Once students are safely dismissed, teachers/certificated staff can depart at 3:05 PM.

The district has confirmed to us that the payroll system is set to adjust any punch from 3:05 PM to 3:10 PM as if the staff punched out at 3:10 PM. If something different is happening at your school, send it to mmaillaro@newarkteachersunion.com!

2) Organization Day - If you were not given the contractual required 5 hours to set up your classroom/office this week, FOLLOW THE RSVP TO MANDATE PROCESS!  Ask your administrator via email when you will be given SELF-DIRECTED, UNINTERRUPTED time to set up your classroom/office next week, or will they be paying you to do it after school.  No one should be receiving any kind of walkthrough or write up for not being prepared if they were not given this contractual required time.

Administrators who are confused or unsure of any of the above issues can feel free to confirm them with Labor Relations.
